Casio VL-1 - VL-Tone Synthezizer Toy

The Casio VL-1 (or VL-Tone) was a small musical toy that combined a simple synthesizer, sequencer, rhtym generator and of all things ... a calculator! It was launched in 1980 and was very succesful. It was followed by a whole host of upgraded models including the VL-5 which was capable of playing more than one note at a time. (Polyphonic) Aimed at school kids the addition of a basic calculator made it a vailid piece of school equipment and allowed kids to bring them to school, somewhat annoying the teachers! The VL-1 acquired notability when the German band Trio used it in their hit song "Da Da Da". They used the Rock-1 rhythm preset and the Piano voice.
