Sony Discman CD Player

The personal CD player was launched in 1984 by Sony. Their Discman allowed the new digital Compact Disc to go mobile just 2 years after CDs were developed.

Their first Discman, the D-50, was bulky but sparked considerable interest.

Later CD walkmans would be much more slimline and include digital memory that would prevent skipping when the player was knocked
