The Casion RZ-1 was a drum machine launched in 1986. It was one of the first drum machines of the era to feature the ability to sample sounds. This means that the user could record a short sound and play it percussively using the pads on the front panel.
 
The in-built sounds were gritty 12bit sampled drums that suited Rap and Hip Hop genres very well.
