Boots QI Magazine Slide Projector

Required Hire Duration

Required Working Condition

  • Date of Manufacture: 1966
  • Quantity Available: 1
  • Working Condition: Working
  • Physical Condition: Good
  • Original Box: Yes

This slide projector takes a standard 35mm slide magazine and has a manual advancing mechanism. As you pull the lever the slide currently being projected is removed and the next slide is automatically shown as the lever goes back. This is a manual mechanism, not electric. Has a circular magazine.

In good working order.

Difficult to put a date on this, the Super QI came out in 1966, so this one likely came out shortly before it.

Projection Size:

At 4m from the screen the projection size with no slide in the gate is 182cm across - With a slide in it the image was 123cm across. The image size does depend on how big the 'visible' areas of the slides used are. This was tested with ones with a visible area of 27mm wide.

It should be noted that the further away the screen is from the projector the bigger the image gets but also the 'dimmer' the image will be. 4m is fine if used in a darkened room. Also much further away than that and there might be issues with focussing. Conversely the closer the screen is to the projector the smaller the image gets but also the 'brighter' the image will be.

In terms of height - the projector should be at the height matching the middle of the projector screen. Anything above or below this will give the image slanted sides (keystoning) and unlike modern projectors this cannot be adjusted out.
